Malaga - Athletic Bilbao Betting Preview: Why a draw at home time looks like the best bet

After three La Liga winners over the weekend, our Spanish expert Phil Kitromilides is backing a tight opening 45 minutes this evening
Monday night's La Liga offering is a significant game for both sides but for markedly different reasons. Athletic are very much in the hunt for what looks to be a wide open race for fourth spot this season after three wins and a draw in their last five matches.

Malaga meanwhile, have only managed one win in seven and remain increasingly in danger of being dragged into a battle at the wrong end of the table.

It is a chance then for both sides to take a step towards each of their respective goals with three points, and Coral offer Malaga at 6/4 (2.50) while Athletic are available at (2.80). The draw is priced at a 9/4 (3.25) with the same firm.

It should be noted that the Basques' main strength this season has been at home where they remain unbeaten, while on the road they have lost four of their last five games.

Upfront they may have a problem this evening with Artiz Aduriz suspended and Kike Sola a doubt.

Malaga also have a few question marks in attack and have generally struggled in front of goal.

This might make for a tight opening period, and backing a draw at the break at evens (2.00) looks like a solid option especially when considering that it has paid out in each of Malaga's last three games.
