Vitoria Guimaraes-Betis Betting Preview: Why a draw at half-time is the best bet

After three Champions League winners this week, our Spanish expert Phil Kitromilides turns his eye to the Europa League
For a side struggling as badly as Real Betis are at the moment, the last thing they need is an away European fixture ahead of a big weekend in La Liga.

The side from Seville are without a domestic win since September and having lost four of their last five matches are only off the bottom of the table on goal difference.

Things do not get any easier for Betis on Sunday night as Barcelona visit the Estadio Benito Villamarin, so tonight's fixture in Portugal is almost something of a distraction for los Verdiblancos.

Yet it could be a welcome one and another victory against Vitoria Guimaraes might potentially act as a catalyst for some domestic improvement. Paddy Power offer an away win at 6/4 (2.50) while the hosts are slight outsiders at 7/4 (2.75).

On paper Betis should win this, but a lack of confidence coupled with a crippling set of injuries means Pepe Mel's men are not in the best of shape.

Guimaraes, for their part, have made an inconsistent start to the Portuguese league and do not inspire too much confidence themselves, making the match odds a tough task for punters.

A tight, nervy encounter could well be on the cards then and backing the draw at half-time looks to be a decent option at evens (2.00).

Remarkably this bet has paid out in eight of Guimaraes' nine league matches so far this season, as well as in the previous meeting between these two sides a fortnight ago. Furthermore, it has proved the correct selection in Betis' last two fixtures meaning this bet has an excellent chance of paying out once again.
