Both sides could do with a victory here and our tipster is predicting plenty of goals when Neil Lennon's men face Frank De Boer's side on TuesdayCeltic face Ajax in the Champions League on Tuesday night and both sides are desperate for victory to bolster their hopes of reaching the knockout stage of this season’s competition.
Neil Lennon’s men were defeated by Milan in their opening group game before slipping to a 1-0 reverse against Barcelona at Celtic Park last time out but the Hoops will look to bounce back when they play host to Frank de Boer’s side on Tuesday.
Celtic are chalked up as a 13/10 (2.30) shot with Coral to claim all three points here while the Dutch champions can be backed at 8/5 (2.60) with the same firm to emerge victorious in Glasgow. Draw backers may be tempted by Coral’s 9/4 (3.25) quote that Tuesday’s tussle ends in stalemate.
The home side have an impressive record on home soil in this competition but will be hampered by the absence of captain Scott Brown, who is suspended following his red card against Barcelona, while the Hoops are also without Kris Commons and Adam Matthews through injury.
Ajax were denied a crucial home victory over Milan by Mario Balotelli’s late penalty in their last Champions League outing and, having gone five matches without defeat in all competitions since suffering a 4-0 rout against PSV Eindhoven last month, Frank De Boer’s men will travel to Scotland in good spirits.
The Dutch side certainly boast plenty of firepower, having scored an impressive 23 goals in 10 league matches so far this season – a record that only PSV Eindhoven and Heerenveen have been able to equal.
Ajax, though, are without a win in their last five Champions League matches while Frank der Boer’s side have conceded 16 goals in just six matches on the road thus far this term.
Celtic have failed to score in just three of their last 11 Champions League ties in Glasgow and, with that in mind, it is perhaps unsurprising that Coral offer 8/13 (1.62) that both teams hit the target on Tuesday.
Better value, though, may lie in backing at least three goals to be scored when these two sides go head-to-head at a hugely tempting 4/5 (1.80) with Coral.
It is worth noting that Celtic have netted at least twice in eight of their last nine Champions League victories at Celtic Park and they can certainly test the Dutch champions here.
Given Ajax’s defensive deficiencies on the road so far this season, those seeking to back bigger prices may be tempted to snap up the 13/10 (2.30) quote from Coral for the Hoops to score two or more goals at Celtic Park on Tuesday.
