Against the tightest defence in the division, Phil Kitromilides thinks Villarreal will struggle to score more than once on Friday nightContrasting fortunes for these two teams last weekend saw Villarreal suffer their first defeat of the season while Granada picked up their first win in five matches.
The Yellow Submarines' flying start was halted by that 1-0 defeat at Betis but William Hill price them at 1/2 (1.50) to get back to winning ways on Friday night. Granada, who overcame Athletic Bilbao 2-0 on Monday, can be backed at a 6/1 (7.00). The draw is available at 3/1 (4.0).
Villarreal's failure to get on the scoresheet at Betis was only the second time this season they have failed to find the back of the net.
They have been scoring regularly and with relative ease, yet they face a Granada side with a mean defence. The Andalusians have not conceded more than one goal in a single game this season and have kept clean sheets in two of their last three matches.
With this in mind, backing Villarreal to score under 1.5 goals at 5/4 (2.25) is appealing. Granada have only conceded five goals so far this season with no team in the entire division conceding fewer, so they should provide plenty of resistance.
Lucas Alcaraz's side are currently tied with the top two, Barcelona and Atletico Madrid, as having the best defensive record and they will make things tough for Villarreal despite the hosts' attacking prowess.
