Michael Laudrup’s Swans were thumped 4-1 by Manchester United on Saturday evening but will look to bounce back from that disappointment with victory over their Romanian opponents.
The Swans are warm favourites at 2/5 (1.40) with Paddy Power to take an advantage into next week’s return leg by claiming victory here.
Cosmin Contra’s side, though, will be eyeing up another upset having disposed of Dutch side Vitesse in the last round and the Romanians, currently unbeaten in the Liga 1 table, are chalked up at 13/2 (7.50) with Paddy Power to cause an upset here. The same firm go 16/5 (4.20) that the first leg ends in stalemate.
Swansea swept to a comfortable 4-0 victory over Swedish side Malmo at home in the last round of the competition and, with Wilfried Bony and Michu likely to link up in attack for the Swans, they will be confident of causing plenty of problems for the Romanians.
Furthermore, it is worth noting that Petrolul Ploiesti have conceded in five of their last six matches in all competitions so Michael Laudrup’s side will be confident of getting amongst the goals again on Thursday.
It comes as little surprise, then that Paddy Power offer just 8/15 (1.53) for the Swans to score two or more goals here but there are alternative paths to profit.
The juicy 13/10 (2.30) quote from Paddy Power for Swansea to score in both halves looks to represent outstanding value and should be backed accordingly while the same firm's 6/5 (2.20) quote that Michael Laudrup’s men win to nil is also tempting.
As always, Paddy Power’s correct score market offers punters plenty of opportunity to make a sizeable profit for small stakes and the juicy 17/2 (9.50) quote for Swansea to record a 3-0 victory at Liberty Stadium is the value play here.
