After exiting two cup competitions this month, Liam Buckley’s men turn their attention back to the league on Friday looking to extend their lead at the topSt Patrick’s host Cork City this week looking to bounce back from a difficult month away from the Irish Premiership. Despite drawing 2-2 away at Zalgiris in the Europa League qualifier first leg, Liam Buckley’s men could not make home advantage count, losing 2-1 in the second leg.
St Pats followed this up by losing to Shamrock Rovers in extra-time in the Irish League Cup quarter-finals. With only the top flight to play for now, Buckley’s side must now focus on maintaining their lead at the top of table.
Cork City travel to Richmond Park looking to better their sixth-placed finish last season, but with only seven games remaining, they realistically need to win against St Pats.
St Patrick's come into this match with a three point lead at the top of the league. The Saints recorded a solid draw last time out against rivals Sligo Rovers away from home which maintained their advantage.
Buckley and his side have made Richmond Park somewhat of a fortress this season, losing only one league game. William Hill price the leaders at 4/9 (1.44) to take all three points on Friday night.
Cork City have been on a hugely-inconsistent run of late, winning two, losing four and drawing two of their last eight matches in the league.
Tommy Dunne’s men currently sit in seventh position only two points behind Limerick in sixth. With the difference to fifth-placed Shamrock at 11 points, City have to start putting results together to better last season’s finish. William Hill don’t give them much chance in this match though, pricing them at 13/2 (7.50) to win the game. The same firm prices the draw at 14/5 (3.80).
With St Pats being a little short to back at 4/9, it’s worth looking elsewhere to find value. The Handicap market offers a fantastic price, with St Patrick’s -1 at 13/10 (2.30) with William Hill.
When you consider that this bet would have paid out in St Pats' last three league home games, it’s certainly worth investing in. With Cork also struggling to keep a clean sheet away from home, conceding eight in their last three, this bet is tough to ignore.
