Yet the accusation often leveled at the 27-year-old is a lack of consistency and a failure to replicate his best form week in, week out. Indeed, statistics show that Negredo missed more clear-cut chances than any other striker in Europe's top five leagues last season.

That he will score goals at Manchester City is not in doubt, given the quality of service he will receive - namely from former Sevilla colleague Jesus Navas, with whom he linked up so brilliantly last season.
Therefore, BetVictor's market on just how many Negredo will net in the league provides some intriguing options.
Backing him to score over 12.5 goals in the Premier League at 10/11 (1.91) looks to be an excellent bet, particularly given his personal scoring records.
In six of the last seven seasons he has scored at least 13 league goals (in the one season he failed to, he notched 12) and while Negredo may take a little time to adapt to a new league, he is well prepared physically to deal with the combative nature of the English top flight.
Furthermore, in a World Cup year, Negredo will be extra-motivated to catch the eye of Spain coach Vicente del Bosque, who last season showed himself to be a little reticent of picking players who ply their trade outside of Spain.
Given the summer exodus of players from the Iberian peninsular to English shores, Del Bosque may have to rethink that strategy, and Negredo will be hoping to be at the forefront of the new wave of Spanish stars in the Premier League.
