IF Elfsborg-Halmstad Betting Preview: Expect few goals at the Boras Arena

With a quarter of the season remaining in the Allsvenskan, two sides with different objectives go head to head and Hugh Wilson backing few goals
Halmstad travel to Elfsborg this weekend with both sides in desperate need of three points. The hosts sit in fourth position in the Allsvenskan, three points behind IFK Goteborg who top the table.

The championship is very much up for grabs, as well as the European places. Halmstad, on the other hand, are sitting on the brink of the relegation places, only three points above Syrianska who sit bottom of the league.

Elfsborg come into this match in a sticky patch of form. Jorgen Lennartsson’s men have won one of their last four matches, drawing one and losing two.

Despite this poor form though, they are still in touching distance of the top of the league, with the Championship expected to go down to the wire.

Elfsborg have won nine out of 10 matches between themselves and Halmstad, so it’s unsurprising Paddy Power price them as huge favourites at 2/7 (1.29) to take all three points.

Halmstad have recorded only one win in their last seven matches, but victory did come in their last game against Syrianska, who sit at the bottom of the league.

It was a vital win for Jens Gustafsson’s men who edged closer to safety with that victory. HBK have some tough fixtures ahead, having to play Helsingborg and Malmo in their last six matches. Paddy Power price them at 15/2 (8.50) to take a much needed victory. The same firm price the draw at 4/1 (5.00).

A bet that is certainly worth investing in for this match is under 2.5 goals at a generous 6/5 (2.20). Despite beating Syrianska 5-1 last month, Elfsborg have struggled for goals of late, scoring only two more in their last five fixtures including the 5-1 win. With this unders bet paying out in three of each sides last five matches, it is definitely worth backing.
