Following Danny Wilson's departure from Sheffield United, Willie Duncan believes that there is value in backing Aidy Boothroyd to take over the hotseat at Bramall LaneSheffield United’s bid to be promoted to the Championship ended earlier this month when the Blades suffered a disappointing 2-1 semi-final play-off aggregate defeat at the hands of Yeovil Town and so the search for a permanent successor to Danny Wilson is sure to intensify over the summer.
Chris Morgan was appointed as caretaker manager following Wilson’s departure from Bramall Lane and the 35-year-old is chalked up as a 6/1 (7.0) chance with BetVictor to take over the reins on a permanent basis.
However, the Blades won just two of seven matches under Morgan as they ended the season on a flat note and the inexperienced boss is unlikely to be given the opportunity to spearhead Sheffield United’s push for promotion next season.

|Odds from BetVictor
Gareth Southgate has been out of management since his tenure as Middlesbrough boss came to an end back in 2009, but the 42-year-old has attracted plenty of support in the betting market and is now 7/1 (8.0) with BetVictor to be appointed as successor to Danny Wilson.
Former Sheffield United players Glyn Hodges and Stuart McCall are both rated as a 6/1 (7.0) shot with BetVictor to take up the vacancy at Bramall Lane.
Hodges played for the Blades between 1991 and 1996 but lacks managerial experience and may struggle to impress the Sheffield United board, while McCall, who ended his playing career at Bramall Lane, has stated his desire to continue in his current role as manager of Motherwell in the Scottish Premier League.
An interesting contender for the post is former Watford manager Aidy Boothroyd. The 42-year-old boss, who guided the Hornets into the Premier League in 2006, is available at 12/1 (13.0) to take over at Sheffield United next term.
Boothroyd narrowly missed out on promotion to League One with Northampton this season as the Cobblers lost out 3-0 to Bradford City in the play-off final at Wembley on Saturday.
Nevertheless, Boothroyd’s impressive performance as Northampton boss may well have caught the attention of the Bramall Lane board and the chunky 12/1 (13.0) quote from BetVictor for him to be appointed as the next permanent manager of Sheffield United looks to represent value in this market.
