Bradford City-Northampton Town Betting Preview: Expect both sides to find the net at Wembley

Saturday sees the League Two play-off final take place at Wembley, with our man Hugh Wilson tipping goals in the fight for promotion with a 9/2 value bet
After 48 league games this season, Bradford City and Northampton Town meet at the home of football for the chance to join Gillingham, Rotherham and Port Vale in winning promotion to League One.

This won't be the first time Bradford have visited Wembley this season. The Bantams went on a spectacular run in the League Cup, before losing in the final to Swansea City 5-0.

Phil Parkinson’s men pulled off some huge results on the way, beating Arsenal and Aston Villa, with the run in the cup seeming to spur on their league form, which saw them finish in the final play-off position in seventh.

The Bantams come into this match after beating Burton Albion over two legs 6-4 on aggregate. The Yorkshire club had to come from behind after a poor first leg to seal their spot in the final. Parkinson’s men are slight favourites for the win, with Coral pricing them at 7/5 (2.40).

Northampton Town were involved in a less frantic play-off semi-final, beating Cheltenham Town 2-0 on aggregate. The Cobblers home form was the main reason for their high finish in the league this season, but Aidy Boothroyd’s side managed to win away at Cheltenham in the second leg for their first win away from Sixfields in eight games.

The Cobblers are slight underdogs at 15/8 (2.88) with Coral to win the match and gain promotion to League One. The same firm prices the draw at 23/10 (3.30).

A price which stands out in this match is both teams to score at evens (2.00) with Coral. Bradford have netted in 10 of their last 12 matches, with Northampton also not struggling to score, finding the back of the net in 13 of their last 18 matches. This is a fantastic price, with both sides likely to go all out for the win in the final.

For those looking for more value, the first goalscorer market is certainly worth investing in. Bradford’s main man this season, Nahki Wells, has netted seven in his last eight, including three goals in the play-off semi finals. The price of 9/2 (5.50) for him to open the scoring is certainly worth investing in.
