The 50-year-old is leaving Goodison Park after more than a decade to take over at Manchester United and our tipster wonders which of his players he will take with him
After 11 years at the helm, the 50-year-old is leaving Goodison Park with the supporters’ blessing, although his popularity may start to fade should he return to the club brandishing the type of transfer budget he could only dream of with the Toffees.
|Manchester United transfer special
|Odds from Paddy Power
|Leighton Baines to join Manchester United this summer||11/8|
|Marouane Fellaini to join Manchester United this summer||9/4|
|Seamus Coleman to join Manchester United this summer||8/1|
The England international has been one of the most creative players in the league this season, while most wingers would be happy with his return of seven goals from full-back.
With Patrice Evra set to turn 32 before the beginning of next season, 28-year-old Baines would represent a ready-made replacement for the Frenchman, and Ferguson himself was allegedly eyeing up a move before announcing his retirement.
With two years left on his contract, any deal would not come cheaply, but United demonstrated their willingness to splash out on proven Premier League quality in signing Robin van Persie last summer, and odds of 11/8 (2.38) look very tempting on them shelling out for Baines this year.
The other obvious target is the versatile Marouane Fellaini, who has hit double figures for the first time in England this season, including the winner against United at Goodison.
The big Belgian could help fill the void left in the champions’ midfield by Paul Scholes' retirement, or alternatively replace the seemingly exit-bound Wayne Rooney in a more attacking role.
The former Standard Liege man has long been linked with the country’s biggest clubs, with rumours of a £23 million buyout clause attracting helping to fuel speculation.
His former boss would surely be at the front of the queue should Fellaini come on the market, and you can get odds of 9/4 (3.25) on him moving to Old Trafford.
Meanwhile, former Young Player of the Year nominee Seamus Coleman has made the right-back position his own this season, and his impressive form will have given Moyes great satisfaction, having brought him over from Ireland as a raw 20-year-old.
However, in Rafael and Phil Jones, United are already well-stocked for promising young right-backs, so odds of 8/1 (9.00) are probably best avoided on Coleman moving to Old Trafford this summer.
