Yeovil - Sheffield United Betting Preview: Value to be found in backing against goals at both ends

The two teams were separated by a single goal in the first leg, and Al Hain-Cole believes their recent records suggest that we're unlikely to see both nets bulge at Huish Park
Sheffield United travel to Yeovil on Monday, hoping to protect a slender 1-0 first-leg advantage and book themselves a place in the League One play-off final for the second successive year.

However, the hosts boast the third strongest home record in the division this season, and are 29/20 (2.45) favourites with BetVictor to overturn the deficit with a victory at Huish Park.

Even so, the Blades ran out 1-0 winners in September’s corresponding league fixture, and are available at 85/40 (3.13) to seal their place at Wembley with another win.

There have been no draws in the last five encounters between these two sides, but you can get odds of 23/10 (3.30) on them sharing the spoils in this match.

Chris Morgan’s men had not scored in three games going into the first leg, but they must have been confident of coming out on top once they made the breakthrough.

The losing team has now failed to score in five successive meetings between these two sides, and that trend looks more than likely to continue when they meet in Somerset.

A bet against both teams to score would have paid out in four of the hosts’ last five and an overwhelming 15 of the visitors’ last 17 games, and seems very safe in what should be a closely-fought encounter here, at solid 17/20 (1.85) odds.

Gary Johnson’s men thought that they had found the net in Sheffield thanks to James Hayter’s tidy finish, only for the striker to be ruled offside.

The 34-year-old scored the winner in Doncaster’s play-off final victory over Leeds back in 2008, and will be extra determined to become the hero once again after coming so close in the first leg.

With four goals in his last nine games, the veteran striker offers excellent value at 12/5 (3.40) to get on the scoresheet on Monday evening.
