Espanyol-Valencia Betting Preview: Why backing both teams to score should be profitable

With both teams in excellent scoring form recently, our Spanish expert Phil Kitromilides believes there will be goals at both ends
The Cornella El Prat should see an entertaining encounter on Saturday as Valencia travel to a much improved Espanyol side, who have been one of the division's best teams in 2013.

Indeed since their derby defeat to Barcelona on January 6, Espanyol have won seven of their 12 games, drawing three and losing just twice, and can be backed at 11/5 (3.20) with BetVictor for the win. Valencia meanwhile, who are offered at 11/8 (2.38) are unbeaten in their last 10 matches meaning we could see a tight game between these two sides.

Therefore the draw could be a wise selection for a value bet and odds of 12/5 (3.40) mean punters would be healthily rewarded.

Yet for serious investment it is harder to look further than the price of 4/5 (1.80) for both teams to score which would appear to have a great chance of paying out.

Espanyol have scored in seven of their last eight home games, while Valencia have netted in six of their last seven away matches.

Furthermore this bet has paid out in four of the last five meetings between the clubs including earlier this season when Valencia recorded a 2-1 win at Mestalla.

For a value bet, as previously mentioned backing a draw is a decent option, and a scoring draw looks extremely possible. Braver punters will take the 13/2 (7.50) offered for a 1-1, but the price of 12/5 (3.40) for the draw is certainly acceptable for a small value bet.
