Gary Bowyer early favourite to take over at Ewood Park as Blackburn part company with Appleton
An eight-game winless streak was enough to ensure another change of management for the Championship side with the current reserve team coach leading the market to take over
Blackburn Rovers have had an extremely turbulent season so far, and a run of results which saw them claim just three points from seven Championship games means the club are now looking for their fourth permanent manager of the season.Steve Kean was given his marching orders after a handful of Championship games following the club's relegation from the Premier League. His replacement Henning Berg lasted just 57 days in charge of the Lancashire club, the shortest spell of a permanent manager in their history.

Reserve team coach Gary Bowyer is the early 7/1 favourite to take over. The 41-year-old represented Rotherham and Hereford in his playing career and has been in charge of the reserve team since 2009.
Former Southampton manager Nigel Adkins is also towards the head of the market at 12/1 while ex-Swindon boss Paolo Di Canio is available to back at 10/1.
The Italian had spoken about being open to discussions for the Reading job which became available last week, while Adkins has been heavily linked to the role.
Former boss Mark Hughes, who started the season at QPR but was sacked following disappointing results is 12/1 and Alan Shearer, who was in charge of Newcastle for a short time during their relegation to the Championship is 16/1. Roberto Di Matteo is also available at the same price.
Steve McClaren is now available after the former England boss left Twente for a second time and is priced at 16/1 to take over at Ewood Park.
Any potential candidates considering the role must be doing so with some reluctance given the high turnover of managers in the last year, but Venkys, the Indian company who own Rovers, have shown their willingness to invest once the club had been relegated from the Premier League.
The likes of Danny Murphy, Jordan Rhodes and Nuno Gomes were amongst the high profile signings and the likes of Colin Kazim-Richards, David Bentley and DJ Campbell have all joined the squad on loan deals.
