Swansea-Arsenal Betting Preview: Unexpected Spaniard to strike first in tight encounter
After the Gunners valiant effort in the Champions League this week, they return to league action and Hugh Wilson thinks this will be a tight occasion and has an 8/1 value bet
Despite achieving a feat no other team has managed since March 2011 (by beating Bayern Munich at home in the Champions League), Arsenal bowed out of the competition on away goals. Attention now turns to the Premier League, where Arsene Wenger’s men desperately need a win to keep up hopes of a top four spot. The Gunners away form of late has been inconsistent, winning three and losing two or their last five, however they are 6/5 (2.20) favourites for this clash with Bet365 to come away with all three points.
Swansea have been a tough side to beat at home this season though, with only two teams coming away from the Liberty Stadium with maximum points. They are currently eight games unbeaten at home, winning three of their last four. Michael Laudrup’s men are 9/4 (3.25) with Bet365 for the win.
For those who think both sides will cancel each other out, Bet365 offers 5/2 (3.50) for the draw, which is certainly worth a punt. The two sides met earlier on this season in the FA Cup in Wales, with the game finishing 2-2.
One price that jumps out of the page is Under 2.5 goals at Evens (2.00) with Bet365. Nine out of the last 14 Arsenal away games would have paid out had you backed this bet, as well as six of Swansea’s home games this season. With the game expected to be a tight affair, take advantage of this price.
Looking at the first goalscorer market, unsurprisingly, Miguel Michu and Theo Walcott are joint favourites at 11/2 (6.50) with Bet365.
However, it’s Arsenal’s midfield maestro that stands out at a big price. With three goals in his last three Premier League games, Santi Cazorla has re-found the form that saw him perform so well earlier in the season. The Spain international is 8/1 (9.00) to open the scoring at the weekend, a price which would appear to represent huge value.
