thumbnail Hello,

After serving up a 2-2 draw in the first leg, there is still everything to play for in Germany. Al Hain-Cole thinks that some tired defenders should ensure a high-scoring game

While most neutral eyes will be glued to the high profile clash at Old Trafford, tonight’s other Champions League fixture between Borussia Dortmund and Shakhtar Donetsk promises to be another cracker.

A 2-2 first leg draw in Ukraine three weeks ago leaves the tie nicely poised, although Jurgen Klopp’s men will be in confident spirits thanks to their two away goals.

Having won all three of their home games during a difficult group stage, the hosts are clear 8/13 (1.62) favourites with Bet Victor to come out on top once again at the Westfalen Stadion.

Mircea Lucescu’s side performed more impressively on the road in Group E than results suggest, but it would be a shock if they could emerge victorious in this game, at odds of 9/2 (5.50).

This encounter should be as hotly contested as the first leg, so odds of 33/10 (4.30) on another draw taking place may seem tempting.

With the Bundesliga title out of their reach, and having been knocked out of the domestic cup by runaway leaders Bayern Munich, this competition represents the only chance of silverware for the German double winners.

However, tonight’s crucial match will be Die Schwarzgelben’s fourth game in 10 days, and with key defender Matts Hummels touch and go after an injury, a tired defence could well struggle to contain their flamboyant visitors.

In contrast, the Ukrainian champions’ easy 4-1 win over Volyn on Friday was their only competitive fixture since the match in Germany, so they should go into this match fresh and ready to continue their prolific scoring record of two goals per game in this competition.

Nevertheless, Dortmund have only been denied in front of goal once in 38 competitive matches this season, so both teams to score looks like a safe bet here, at odds of 8/13 (1.62).

Douglas Costa has been charged with the daunting task of replacing star man Willian after he left the visitors in January, and the fellow Brazilian showed potential when he came off the bench to score in the first leg.

Having also hit the back of the net in the league game on Friday, Costa looks set to take up the goal-scoring mantle from left wing, and could well prove undervalued at 10/3 (4.33) to score anytime.
