Craig Brown's Dons welcome Derek Adams' Staggies to Pittodrie on Tuesday night and Scottish football expert Willie Duncan is expecting a low-scoring encounterIn-form Ross County make the trip to face Craig Brown’s out-of-sorts Aberdeen in what promises to be an intriguing Scottish Premier League clash at Pittodrie on Tuesday night.
The hosts have managed just two wins in their last 10 matches in all competitions – both against Premier League basement boys Dundee – and the Dons will be keen to improve upon that record when they face Derek Adams’ side.
Despite their indifferent form, Brown will be encouraged that his side have collected five points from their last three matches and the Dons are chalked up as William Hill’s 11/10 (2.10) favourites to claim another win when they welcome the Staggies to Pittodrie.
Ross County, though, are likely to offer stiff opposition, having put together an impressive eight-match unbeaten run, culminating in an impressive 3-0 victory over Motherwell at Victoria Park on Saturday afternoon.
The Staggies are rated as 13/5 (3.60) chance with William Hill to pick up a fourth successive victory by defeating the Dons while the same firm go 11/5 (3.20) that the contest ends in stalemate.
It should be noted that Derek Adams’ side have only conceded in one of their last five matches – in a 2-2 draw against Heart of Midlothian – while Craig Brown’s men have scored a measly three goals in their last seven matches in all competitions.
With that in mind, a low-scoring encounter seems likely here and it is worth backing William Hill’s 4/6 (1.67) quote on the match featuring fewer than three goals.
Northern Irishman Ivan Sproule has found a new lease of life since joining County from Hibernian in January and the 32-year-old winger, who has scored five goals in five matches for the Staggies, is available at a tempting 9/1 (10.0) shot with William Hill to score first.
Sproule’s fellow countryman, Niall McGinn, who has hit the back of the net 17 times in all competitions for the Dons this season, is available at a juicy 9/2 (5.50) with the same firm to break the deadlock for the hosts.
Both Sproule and McGinn are subject of William Hill's special "headline offer" for this match, with the odds compilers offering 3/1 (4.0) that McGinn scores at any time in a victory for the Dons, while the same firm go 9/1 (10.0) that Sproule is on target in a win for the Staggies.
This match, though, has all the makings of a tight, tense encounter and, therefore, William Hill’s 4/6 (1.67) quote for fewer than three goals to be scored is the recommended play, while there is plenty value in backing the draw at 11/5 (3.20) with the same firm.
