Notts County - Bury Betting Preview: Expect goals to be far and few between at Meadow Lane

A poor run of results led to the dismissal of Keith Curle, but his replacement is yet to get off the mark after three games and Al Hain-Cole does not expect that to change tonight

Notts County’s caretaker coach Chris Kiwomya will be looking to push his case for the permanent position by picking up a first win in charge against Bury this evening.

A run of just two wins in 11 matches cost Keith Curle his job at Meadow Lane, but his temporary replacement has managed just two draws and a defeat in the three matches since his dismissal.

However, Kiwomya is widely expected to get off the mark against their relegation threatened guests on Friday evening, with William Hill offering odds of 5/6 (1.83) on the home side coming out on top.

The Shakers have won just two of their 16 League One games on the road this season, but are available at 3/1 (4.00) to make it three tonight.

Four of the visitors’ last five away games have resulted in a draw, and with The Magpies sharing the spoils in their previous two matches, odds of 5/2 (3.50) certainly seem tempting for this one to finish all square.

A lack of firepower seems to have been County’s main shortcoming in recent weeks, with a paltry return of 14 goals scored in the last 16 matches a key element in their descent down the league after a very promising start to the campaign.

Only Hartlepool have plundered fewer than Bury’s 31 goals in 32 league games, so a high-scoring match seems unlikely when these sides come face-to-face.

A bet on under 2.5 goals would have paid out in four of the hosts’ last five and six of the visitors’ last seven, so that market looks like it could be a profitable one at odds of 7/10 (1.70) here.

In fact, with goals bound to be few and far between, it would be no surprise if Kiwomya was once again forced to settle for a point, particularly considering the number of draws that this pair have played out recently.

As a value bet, punters could take up those inviting 5/2 (3.50) odds on the teams cancelling each other out in this match.
