Spain-Uruguay Betting Preview: Back the World Champions to score at least twice
Feb 6, 2013 4:02:00 PM
Our Spanish expert Phil Kitromilides believes La Roja will be able to capitalize on Uruguay's leaking defence to score at least two goals at 7/10
On paper an attractive and entertaining match awaits in the unlikely setting of Qatar as the current European and World Champions Spain take on the Champions of South America, Uruguay. As befits a side who are unbeaten in their last 17 matches and have generally conquered all before them in recent years, Spain are the odds-on favourites, with Coral pricing them at just 4/6 (1.65) for the victory.
Yet with all due respect to Panama, Saudi Arabia and Puerto Rico, the three previous friendly opponents for Vicente Del Bosque's side, Uruguay actually represent a serious challenge and can be backed at 4/1 (5.00) to record a win over their Iberian rivals, with the draw offered at 11/4 (3.75).A small caveat to the relative strength of Uruguay must be made and that is that Oscar Tabarez's side have been extremely disappointing for around a year.
Without a win in their last four competitive matches, La Celeste have failed to recapture anything like the form which saw them crowned Copa America winners for a record 15th time in 2011.
While their attacking line is up there with the best in the world (Cavani, Suarez, Forlan) it is at the back where they have struggled, keeping just one clean sheet in their last 10 matches. Having conceded 12 goals in their last four away matches Uruguay look likely to do so again against the best team on the planet and Coral offered the extremely attracive odds of 7/10 (1.70) for Spain to score over 1.5 goals.
This best has paid out in seven of Spain's last eight friendlies, and looks to offer good value for punters wanting to invest in La Roja.
With seven goals in Spain's last five matches, Pedro has been in fine scoring form for his country and the price of 5/1 (6.00) for him to open the score is an appealing option for a value bet.
New customers to Coral using their free £50 bet to back Pedro to score first would seee an extremely healthy return of £300.
