Togo-Tunisia Betting Preview: Back Adebayor to fire his country to their first-ever quarter-finals

The Sparrow Hawks need just a draw to go through from Group B, and Jamie Dickenson is backing them to get a that crucial point with the Tottenham man getting on the scoresheet

With tournament favourites Cote d'Ivoire topping Group B with two wins out of two, it looks like a straight shootout between Togo and Tunisia for second spot and a place in the quarter-finals of the African Cup of Nations.

Tunisia are the favourites with Coral to win at 5/4 (2.25), having won all four of their clashes against Togo in the past.

However, the North African team aren't as strong this tournament as in previous years, and were comprehensively beaten by the Ivory Coast 3-0 after needing a stoppage time goal to overcome Algeria 1-0.

Togo defied the statistics to defeat Algeria last time out with a 2-0 victory, after suffering late agony of their own when a Gervinho goal saw them lose their opening match 2-1 against the Elephants.

Didier Six's side are outsiders at 21/10 (3.10) to win against Tunisia, but will feel confident of taking any chances they create with star man Emmanuel Adebayor in the team.

Togo only need to draw in their final group game to progress to the knock-out rounds though, and at the price of 12/5 (3.40), this is worth backing over either side to triumph.

It would be a landmark achievement for the Sparrow Hawks to make the last eight of the competition, having previously never done so.

But with Adebayor back in the squad, and insisting he is in South Africa to help the team and not for personal success, the West African country can make history.

The Tottenham striker opened the scoring in their last game against Algeria, and with an international goals record of 27 in 55 appearances the 28-year-old can be relied upon to deliver the goods in Nelspruit.

A goal anytime for Adebayor can be backed at 5/4 (2.25) and would help his nation move into uncharted territory.
