Exeter City-Torquay United Betting Preview: In-form hosts can be backed to bag a vital victory

League Two Promotion hopefuls Exeter City will look to maintain their recent run of good form when they welcome an out-of-sorts Torquay United to St James Park on Monday night.

The Grecians are unbeaten in their last five matches and are chalked up as Coral’s even money (2.0) favourites to pick up a victory which would elevate Paul Tisdale’s side above Northampton Town and into third place in the league table.

Torquay United have been in dismal form recently, having failed to win any of their last six league matches and the Gulls are available at 11/4 (3.75) with Coral to collect a much-needed win here.

The last meeting between the sides – just 13 days ago – ended in a 1-1 draw at Plainmoor and Coral go 12/5 (3.40) that the two sides play out another draw here.

Exeter’s veteran striker and top scorer Jamie Cureton is available for selection again on Monday, having served a three-match suspension and the 37-year-old, who has netted 16 goals for the Grecians in all competitions so far this season, is available at a juicy 4/1 (5.0) with Coral to score first at St James Park while the same firm offer a tempting even money (2.0) quote that Cureton scores at any time.

Gulls striker Rene Howe has scored 12 goals for his side this term, including the opening goal of the previous meeting between the sides and Coral go 11/2 (6.50) that the striker repeats that feat in this fixture.

It is worth noting, though, that Torquay have struggled to find the net on the road in this campaign, having scored just 10 goals in 13 away games but Martin Ling’s men have also conceded only 13 goals on their travels and will be keen to keep things tight.
