Betting Special: Will Remy be a hit at Queens Park Rangers?
The Premier League's bottom club confirmed the transfer of the France international to Loftus Road. Bet365 offer 8/11 that he scores five or more league goals this season
Queens Park Rangers and Harry Redknapp seem determined to spend their way out of trouble in the second half of the Premier League season and have beaten several other clubs, including Newcastle, to the signature of Loic Remy. The 26-year-old is believed to have cost the club €9.6million and there will be significant expectations that he is able to score the goals that the south London club have been missing so far this season.
Redknapp's men are the joint-lowest scorers in the division, level with Aston Villa on 17 Premier League goals and bet365 offer 8/11 (1.73) that the former Marseille forward manages five or more league goals this season. Punters who think Remy won't be an immediate hit can back him to score less than five league goals at Evens (2.0).
In two-and-a-half seasons with Marseille, Remy hit 39 goals in 95 appearances in all competitions - although he failed to score in his eight Ligue 1 appearances this campaign - and the calibre of opposition in the Premier League mean bet365 believe he is unlikely to find the net as regularly for QPR.
With striker Andrew Johnson out for the long term with a knee injury and Bobby Zamora still recovering from a spell on the sidelines, Redknapp's options in the final third are limited. Jamie Mackie, Jay Bothroyd and Djibril Cisse have all been used in their absence but none have managed more than three Premier League goals.
With just 16 league games left in the season, the line of 4.5 goals may seem high but if the France international - who also has four goals for his country - can replicate the kind of form that he has shown for Marseille at times in the last three years, he could be the man to help save QPR from dropping into the Championship in May.
Despite the intent by Redknapp in the transfer market, QPR are still 1/2 (1.50) to be relegated and 2/1 (3.0) to finish bottom of the Premier League with bet365.
