JD's Betting Blog: Don't underestimate the importance of education within betting
In his latest post JD explains why it's important to educate yourself in the ways of the world if you want to be profitable plus gives his two tips for this weekend
Last week proved to be a solid week and ended in some profit. Amongst our winners was an over 1.5 team goals position on Catania in Serie A and we also focused on Corinthians and Borussia Dortmund in a team goals combination which delivered at 13/10 (2.30).The goals strategy on Saturday went down by just one goal but overall it was a profitable weekend.
Education, Education, Education
The importance of education in your betting cannot be underestimated. If you are to treat your betting/trading like a business, make sure you educate yourself as much as possible in order to maximise your chance of success.
Attend seminars, read books and listen to more experienced people than yourself to gain knowledge and experience. I have been involved in the stock market before and I always found that the people that took the time to educate themselves were the most successful.
Betting is very similar in a way, gaining an edge means you must first fully understand the marketplace that you're dealing with and different scenarios and how the best people deal with them.
You will never know everything. I learn new things every week and I am always open to new ideas. It's important to continue to develop and evaluate the strategy and decisions you make.
Weekend Tips
Looking ahead to the weekend, Manchester City a seemingly straightforward home match against Reading. You can back the champions of England to win both halves at evens (2.0) with Paddy Power which appeals somewhats.
Reading have shipped a high number of goals any time they have come up against a top-four team this year and a trip to the Ethihad is as difficult as it gets. Manchester City team goals over 3.5 also appeals at 7/5 (2.40) with Paddy Power.
While Newcastle United look an attractive price at 11/10 (2.10) with Paddy Power to beat strugglers QPR.
The Magpies have had a difficult time of late but this looks a winnable match at home to QPR who have only one win all season and, despite Harry Redknapp being installed at the helm, they look overrated against Alan Pardew's side.
