Real Sociedad - Sevilla Betting Preview: Why a draw at half time looks likely
Our Spanish expert Phil Kitromilides believes tonight's game could well be a tight affair that is level at the break and has a 9/2 value bet
Unbeaten in seven matches and currently sitting in ninth place, the feeling among many followers of Spanish fooball is that Real Sociedad may well have a realistic chance of finishing in a European place come the end of the season - if only they were more clinical in front of goal. The Basques certainly seemed to have no problem in scoring at Valencia a couple of weeks ago, as they claimed an eye catching 5-2 win, yet they failed to follow that result up by tamely drawing at home to Getafe and away at Granada.
Sociedad are priced at 7/5 (2.40) to beat a Sevilla side who have lost three of their last four matches. The Andalusians, meanwhile, are priced at 15/8 (2.88) to stop the rot with a win and the draw can be backed at 9/4 (3.25).
There is little to inspire any confidence at all in Sevilla, who away from home this season have been extremely poor. Their only win on the road came at bottom of the table Deportivo La Coruna back in September, while they have lost four of their last five games away from Sanchez Pizjuan.
With Rojiblancos struggling on the road and Real somewhat erratic, this could be potentially a tricky match to call, but the prospect of backing a draw at half-time at evens (2.00) looks an extremely tempting option.
This bet has paid out in both of Sevilla's last two matches and in three of the previous four played by Real Sociedad. The price allows punters to double their money and having paid out in each of the last three meetings between the sides, this looks like a solid selection for the match.
For a value bet, back the home side to go on and win the contest after a half-time stalemate, with Draw/Real Sociedad offered at 9/2 (5.50).
