JD's Betting Blog: Three outright tips from across Europe and weekend advice
JD is backing Manchester United, Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain to win their respective domestic leagues and has tips from the Premier League and Serie A this weekend
We made a marginal profit on our selections last week. A tough midweek was followed by a perfect weekend as we landed all three advised selections. It is now approaching the halfway point in the major football leagues across Europe and it is a good time to take stock of how the leagues are shaping up and identify opportunities.
Barcelona will win the La Liga title but are too short to consider backing to do so. Manchester United's win over Manchester City last weekend has seen them dramatically cut to 8/15 (1.53) with Paddy Power to regain the Premier League crown. Manchester City have not been as effective this season and the pendulum has seemingly swung towards the red side of Manchester again. In Italy, Juventus look head and shoulders above their challengers and they are a 4/11 (1.36) chance with Paddy Power to claim the Serie A title.
Paris Saint-Germain are only 2 points off the top of Ligue 1 but with plenty of improvement possible considering their impressive squad and the potential of more signings in January, they really should justify their 4/9 (1.44) favouritism to land the Ligue 1 title.
As a combination, Manchester United, Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain to win their respective domestic titles pays around 2/1 (3.02) with Paddy Power and is worthy of an investment.Looking ahead to the weekend, Stoke City look over priced at home to Everton. They have not lost at home in the league since February and they face an Everton side with only 3 away wins in 18. Back them on a draw no bet basis at 6/5 (2.20) with Paddy Power.
In Italy, Catania should see off struggling Sampdoria at 10/11 (1.91). The Sicilians are a tough nut to crack at home and have already beaten several good Serie A sides including Atalanta, Parma, Lazio and Chievo this season and should have too much for Sampdoria.
