Manchester United - West Ham Betting Preview: Back the hosts' attack to edge a high-scoring encounter

Manchester United - West Ham Betting Preview: Back the hosts' attack to edge a high-scoring encounter

Alex Ferguson's side have reached the Premier League summit thanks to their awesome attacking options and Al Hain-Cole expects them to come to the rescue once again at Old Trafford

After 13 games, and without really hitting top form, Manchester United find themselves sitting in familiar territory on top of the Premier League.

The Red Devils stuttered to victory over QPR on Saturday, but may have it slightly easier when fellow Londoners West Ham come to town on Wednesday evening.

Sam Allardyce has failed to come out on top in his last 13 meetings with Sir Alex Ferguson, while his club have lost their last seven consecutive league meetings against United.

It is therefore no surprise that the visitors are rank outsiders for this match, with Bet365 offering 11/1 (12.00) odds on The Hammers picking up their first win at Old Trafford since that dramatic Carlos Tevez-inspired effort on the final day of the season five years ago.

The hosts have won 87 of their last 100 Premier League fixtures on home turf, and are overwhelming 2/9 (1.22) favourites to emerge victorious tonight, a price which will only really appeal as part of a multiple to most punters.

United are yet to draw a match in the league this season, but you can get odds of 11/2 (6.50) if you can see a stalemate taking place in this match.

Visiting defenders should be worried - Manchester United always score at home. The hosts' streak of scoring in 55 consecutive home games is a Premier League record, and looks set to continue against a side that has kept just two clean sheets in their last 10 matches.

However, Andy Carroll and Co. will be encouraged by some rather unconvincing defending from last season's runners-up this year, as they have conceded in all but two of their 13 league matches so far.

A bet on both teams to score would have paid out in seven of West Ham's last nine and each of the last four league games at Old Trafford, so this market offers great value at odds of 10/11 (1.91) here.

This combination of poor defending and irresistible attacking means that although Ferguson's men may get themselves into trouble, they are always capable of digging themselves out of it.

The Red Devils have come from behind to win in nine competitive games this season, and were 2-0 down at half-time in their last meeting with The Irons, before eventually running out 4-2 winners.

Value hunters could do a lot worse than have a flutter on United to win from behind again this evening, with lucrative 6/1 (7.00) odds up for grabs.
