Newcastle United strengthened their position at the top of Group D of the Europa League with a slender 1-0 victory over Club Brugge at St James’ Park two weeks ago and the Magpies could book their place in the last 32 of the competition with victory over the out-of-sorts Belgian side when they meet at Jan Breydel Stadium on Thursday evening.Brugge have endured a dismal run of results, having managed just one win in their last eight fixtures and, subsequently, head coach Georges Leekens has been shown the door by the club.
