Genoa - Fiorentina Betting Preview: Delneri's men can start strongly but may fade

The Rossoblu have a habit of losing leads in Serie A this season and that must be a risk against the Viola. Adam Bate thinks punters can use this to their advantage

Fiorentina will fancy their chances of picking up a first away win of the season when they travel to face Genoa on Thursday.

The Viola have won four Serie A matches this season but they've all been in Florence and Vincenzo Montella will be looking for his team to show a little more resolve away from home.

Fiorentina are favourites at 67/50 (2.34) with Marathon Bet to pick up the win that could plunge Genoa into the relegation places.

Not that Genoa have been dismal this season by any means. While they have lost their last two, they were against Roma and Milan – and close affairs they were too.

Indeed, the Rossoblu led 2-0 against Roma before remarkably conceding four goals. A collapse that cost Luigi De Canio his job and saw former Juventus boss Luigi Delneri installed as his successor.

If the new man is to achieve that feat he must tackle the recurring problem facing Genoa this season – they have been in games but somehow end up without the points.

The Genoese side have scored first five times in the current campaign but have gone on to lose three of them.

With the likes of Stevan Jovetic and former Genoa striker Luca Toni in the Fiorentina ranks, the visitors have the firepower to turn this one around too.

As a result, the value bet looks to be backing Genoa/Fiorentina in the HT/FT market at a huge 35/1 (36.00) with Marathon Bet – that’s paid out in three of Genoa’s last eight games.

But for the pick of the bets expect some sort of bounce from Delneri’s arrival and for Genoa to put up a spirited performance.
