It's Group D for Death for the Blues as they look for a first Champions League win of the season in Amsterdam. Adam Bate is backing goals but at both ends
The Dutch champions – and four-time winners of this competition – are unbeaten in the Eredivisie and Frank de Boer’s men will relish this opportunity. Ajax are 7/2 (4.50) with William Hill to pick up a much needed three points.
https://editor.goal.com/english/manage/article/edit/3470414But standards in Holland are not what they were and while Ajax may be unbeaten in the league, not only have five of their nine domestic games been drawn but they have also lost their first two matches in Europe.
The Amsterdam club come into this one having won just one of their last six games and City can consider themselves warm favourites.
Roberto Mancini’s side are 3/4 (1.75) to win here and that is an industry-best price with William Hill for anyone considering backing the visitors.
The draw that would do neither side much good is available at 11/4 (3.75).
In the goalscorer markets, Ajax top scorer Tobias Sana can be backed to net first at 11/1 (12.00) with William Hill but three of his four goals this season came back in August.
The joint-favourites to open the scoring are Argentine duo Sergio Aguero and Carlos Tevez who are both at 4/1 (5.00) to break the deadlock in the Amsterdam Arena.
But the value option is surely in-form forward Edin Dzeko. The tall striker is Manchester City’s top scorer this season and has a hugely impressive 11 goals already for club and country.
Dzeko is 11/2 (6.50) to score first but with plenty of goals expected here the smart money is to back the Bosnian to get on the scoresheet at anytime at 6/4 (2.50) with William Hill.
As for the pick of the bets, consider the fact that both teams have been scoring goals and letting them in.
Ajax were beaten 4-1 in their previous Champions League tie and drew 3-3 at Heerenveen at the weekend.
As for City, both teams to score would have paid out 11 times out of 12 in their games this season.
Despite that statistic, you can get a good price of 4/6 (1.67) with William Hill for both teams to score here and that is well worth a look in what should be an entertaining game.
