Sevilla - Real Mallorca Betting Preview: Back a low scoring game in Seville
With three correct selections over the weekend our in-form Spanish expert Phil Kitromilides believes this evening's match will see less than three goals scored
Monday night's encounter in La Liga offers us a clash with a semblance of symmetry as two sides with two defeats in their last two matches meet at the Estadio Sanchez Pizjuan.Real Mallorca travel to the capital of Andalusia having had their excellent start to the season curtailed by back-to-back defeats against Granada and Getafe respectively.
Sevilla meanwhile impressed in their last home game before ultimately succumbing to the brilliance of Barcelona but followed that up with a disappointing 2-0 defeat at Celta Vigo. It is fair to say then, that both outfits will be looking for a victory to get things back on track and Sportingbet offer Sevilla at 3/5 (1.60) with Mallorca available at 9/2 (5.50).
The Islanders have never been particularly strong away from the city of Palma, and have won only three of their last 13 away games (with two of those wins coming against sides who were relegated last season). Sevilla meanwhile will be missing two of their key men in midfield with Piotr Trochowski (scorer of goals against Real Madrid and Barcelona this season) sidelined with a long term ankle injury, and Gary Medel banned.
These are two big losses for Michel's team and in their last game with both men out Sevilla were badly lacking in fluency.
The natural bet therefore seems to be backing under 2.5 goals in the match available at the surprisingly generous price of 5/6 (1.83). Mallorca are renowned to be a low scoring side and each of their three away games this season have seen less than three goals netted.
Sevilla too have been frugal in the goal scoring department with five of their last six matches all going under 2.5.
Add to this the fact that Mallorca average the lowest number of goals per game this season in the division, with Sevilla averaging the third lowest and this begins to look like an excellent bet. For some higher odds try backing a goal-less draw which is available at 12/1 (13.00).
