Switzerland will be looking to build on their positive start in Group E of World Cup 2014 qualifying when they host Norway on Friday - Adam Bate is backing them for three points
The Swiss are in a good run of form having won all three matches so far this season – chalking up wins against Croatia, Slovenia and Albania.
They currently top the group on six points and with a trip to second-placed Iceland to follow next week Ottmar Hitzfeld will have ambitions of all but sealing qualification in these two games.
Switzerland are 8/11 (1.73) with Marathon Bet to continue their strong run of results with a win here.
For Norway it’s been a hugely disappointing 18 months. They had led their Euro 2012 qualifying group in June of last year but lost two key games to finish third behind Portugal and Denmark.
And after a friendly defeat to Greece in August there was the disappointment of losing the opening World Cup qualifier in Iceland.
Egil Olsen’s men need a win here to get back on track and are 23/5 (5.60) to achieve that feat. The draw is available at 11/4 (3.75).
They certainly need to avoid defeat and are priced at 61/50 (2.22) with Marathon Bet in the double chance market.
But the big problem for the Norwegians is that this is a young Swiss side with talent such as Xherdan Shaqiri, led by an experienced coach and they are only likely to improve.
The best bet is to back Switzerland for three points here and for the value bet it is worth considering the possibility of a convincing victory.
In all three matches this season – including a match against a Croatia side stronger than Norway – the Swiss have won both halves, led at the interval and gone on to win, scored the first goal each time and even scored the last goal.
With Norway having conceded the first goal before the break in all three of their matches this season, the value bet is to back Switzerland at HT/FT at 2/1 (3.00) with Marathon Bet.
