Diary of a Punter: Banking on Sunderland getting some joy at Manchester City

Latest Manchester City-Chelsea Betting Preview: Hosts look good value to edge out Benitez's Blues Previous

Jim Knight is cursing his luck after two close shaves and has two more tips for the weekend. They include both sides to find the net in Saturday's early Premier League game

A couple of near misses last week with Blackpool drawing an uncharacteristic blank against Cardiff to sink the double and Tranmere conceding an equaliser with the last kick of the game to scupper the Football League bet.

But onwards and upwards and with another full fixture list this weekend I've got two bets which I believe will increase the profit for the season.

Last week's £20 free bet winner

Well done to our winning tipster Drinu Francalanza who wins a £20 free bet from Paddy Power for his tip of Liverpool and Sunderland both to win which paid 121/50 (3.42) and beat off some close competition.

Don't forget to send your entry in for this week's competition, the details are listed at the bottom of the article. Good luck.

Both Teams to Score - Manchester City v Sunderland at Evens (2.0)

Looking at Manchester City's recent results and the price of evens (2.0) for both teams to score in this game, I'm happy to back goals at both ends in Saturday's early Premier League game.

Roberto Mancini's side have not kept a clean sheet in 11 games in all competitions since the start of the season. That's right, 11 games, five of those at Etihad Stadium, too.

City's attacking threat is unquestionable and Sunderland's 1-0 win over Wigan, although improving morale and points total for Martin O'Neill's men, was the Black Cat's first clean sheet in four.

However, they appear to have enough going forward to trouble a somewhat suspect Manchester City defence.

Steven Fletcher is in great form and will be keen to show Scotland boss Craig Levein what he can do ahead of next week's Internationals. O'Neill will also have his side well drilled for set pieces, an area that the defending Champions have struggled in so far. At Even money (2.0) I'll be backing both teams to score with a £10 stake.

Tranmere Double Chance (v Notts County) at 8/11 (1.73)

I've written about my admiration for Tranmere in this column before, a 94th minute equaliser for Brentford last weekend cost me a winner at 11/10 but i'm going to back Ronnie Moore's men again on Saturday. They visit Notts County and Paddy Power offer an industry best price of 8/11 (1.73) about the Tranmere-Draw double chance market.

Some would be put off by Notts County's high league position, fourth, but there are signs that against fellow high flying teams they are stuttering a little.

Draws against Sheffield United and MK Dons in recent weeks are credible results in isolation, but they lost to Stevenage on Tuesday and have now won only one of their last five, that was against struggling Portsmouth.

A loss of momentum like that can be difficult to turn around, especially against a team in top gear.

Tranmere's draw at Brentford is the only blot on the copy book in recent games, they have won four of their last five and although they've played teams from the bottom half in some of those, a 5-2 win at Crawley shows what they can do on their travels.

Moore's men are unbeaten in 10 games this season and 8/11 (1.73) looks a solid price for them to avoid defeat again here.

Win a £20 free bet thanks to Paddy Power

Don't forget, entry is now open for this week's competition and will remain open until midday on Saturday. Just send your best weekend tip and price, with "PPTwenty" in the subject line to betting@goal.com to enter the competition.

It can be a well priced single or a multiple of a higher return, so don't miss out on your chance to bag a free bet and send your entry in now.
