Benfica - Barcelona Betting Preview: Why the Catalans will win with at least three goals scored

Phil Kitromilides believes Barca will have too much for the Portuguese giants and has picked a 6/5 (2.20) shot that paid out in all the blaugrana's away group games last season
Neither of these Iberian giants are champions of their respective leagues, but both currently top their domestic tables this season having made impressive starts to the campaign.

Barcelona have won each of their opening six matches to equal their best ever opening to a campaign, while Benfica remain unbeaten ahead of Porto on goal difference.

Yet that is where any similarity ends according to William Hill who price Barca as overwhelming favourites to claim victory at 6/10 (1.60). A home win meanwhile can be backed at 5/1 (6.00) while the draw is offered at 11/4 (3.75).

Neither side were at their best in the opening round of matches with Barca having to come from behind to avoid a shock home defeat at the hands of Spartak Moscow, and Benfica failing to score in a goal-less draw at Celtic.

The Eagles' inability to break down the Glasgow giants can in part be attributed to the absence of their talismanic striker Oscar Cardozo.

The Paraguayan has four goals in four league games for Benfica yet will be once again missing through injury and this will hurt the Portuguese side's chances.

Barcelona should have enough to win the game, yet it is unlikely to be an overwhelming victory, with Benfica's only defeat at home in the Champions League in their last seven games coming against last season's eventual winners Chelsea.

The price of 6/5 (2.20) of over 2.5 goals and a Barcelona win, looks to hold some real value with this bet paying out in four of their last six away games in the Champions League, as well as in every group game they played away from the Camp Nou last season.

For a value bet back Draw/Barcelona in the half time/full time market at 15/4 (4.75). If the majority of Barcelona's recent goals have come in the second half (against Granada, Sevilla and Spartak) then it makes sense to back them to come good after a stalemate at the break.
