Sevilla - Barcelona Betting Preview: Why both teams will score in the Sanchez Pizjuan
After a week of winners including a 5/1 tip, our Spanish expert Phil Kitromilides believes neither side will keep a clean sheet when Tito Vilanova's side travel to Andalusia
Sevilla's impressive start to the season has seen them go unbeaten for the first five matches, and record three clean sheets in a row for the first time in two years. The Andalusians were supremely well organised in their last home match as they defeated an underwhelming Real Madrid side by a goal to nil, and managed to effectively nullify the champions's attacking threat.
That they did, was largely down to the deployment by manager Michel of a double defensive pivot in the centre of midfield, with new signing Hedwiges Maduro joining the terrier-like Gary Medel in protecting the back four.
The visit of league leaders Barcelona would appear to be another opportunity for this tactic to be used, and with the Catalans boasting a 100 per cent record so far, the contest should be an intriguing one.
Bet365 price a home win at 5/1 (6.00) while a victory for Tito Vilanova's men can be backed at 1/2 (1.50) with the draw offered at 10/3 (4.33).
Though Barca have been fairly dominant over Sevilla at the Camp Nou in recent seasons, at the Estadio Sanchez Pizjuan it has been a different story with the Blaugrana winning only one of their last three trips there in all competitions. The Catalans have had serious problems in defence with Carles Puyol and Gerard Pique both missing in recent weeks through injury.
Therefore the price of 8/11 (1.72) on both teams to score appears extremley attractive especially when one takes a closer look at recent statistics.
Barca have conceded in each of their last three away matches, while Sevilla have found the net in each of their last seven home games. This bet has also paid out in three of the last four matches between the sides in Seville, and would seem to be a solid selection.
For a genuine value bet, try spending your loose change on Sevilla full-back Cicinho to score at any time available at 18/1 (19.00).
While he may be a defender and yet to open his account for the Andalusians, in the great tradition of Brazilian right-backs Cicinho loves to get forward and his performances since joining from Palmeiras mean that statistically, he has been the best right-back in Europe's top leagues so far this season. That in itself makes him worth a small punt to get on the scoresheet.
