Montpellier - Arsenal Betting Preview: Back the Gunners to pick up a priceless away win

Arsenal were in fantastic form when they smashed six past Southampton at the weekend and Arsene Wenger will be hoping that his side are able to recreate that form when they travel to face French champions Montpellier, as the UEFA Champions League group stages get underway on Tuesday night.The Gunners are chalked up as William Hill’s 13/10 (2.30) favourites to get their campaign off to the best possible start with victory here, while Montpellier, who have endured a dreadful start to the new season, are chalked up as 11/5 (3.20) shots with William Hill to beat their English Premier League opponents. The same firm go 21/10 (3.10) to end all square.
Lukas Podolski heads William Hill’s first goalscorer market at 4/1 (5.0) and the German striker is sure to go into the clash with Montpellier full of confidence having netted in each of Arsenal’s last two matches.
Olivier Giroud is still looking for his first goal since joining the Gunners in the summer but will relish the prospect of facing his old side. The 25-year-old looks to be good value at 9/2 (5.50) with William Hill to mark the occasion with the opening goal of the game while Gervinho, who scored twice at the weekend, is rated as a 7/1 (8.0) chance to score first on Tuesday.
Montpellier have won just one of their first five league matches and manager Rene Girard will hope that new recruit Emanuel Herrera can provide the goals for his side. The Argentine striker, who has scored twice in five outings for his new club thus far, is available at 15/2 (8.50) with William Hill to score the first goal of the game.
Despite their stumbling start, Montpellier have managed to find the target in four of their five league matches and the 6/5 (2.20) quote from William Hill for three or more goals to be scored here is certainly worthy of consideration, as is the 17/20 (1.85) from the same firm for both teams to score.The Gunners, though, appear to be finding form at the right time and they should be backed at William Hill’s 13/10 (2.30) while the 9/2 (5.50) quote from the same firm for Giroud to come back to haunt his old club is also worthy of support.
