Netherlands - Turkey Betting Preview: Why a high-scoring first half is the bet to back

Despite losing their last four matches, including all three fixtures at Euro 2012, Netherlands remain firm favourites to overcome Turkey in their opening World Cup qualifying match, with Panbet pricing a Dutch win at 49/100 (1.49).With Netherlands seeming a little out of sorts, Turkey may well feel now is the best time to make the trip to the Amsterdam ArenA and Abdullah Avci's side can be backed at 63/10 (7.30) to claim a victory, while the draw is offered at 18/5 (4.60).
After their well-documented failure at this summer's tournament, plus a humiliating 4-2 defeat to neighbours Belgium in a friendly last month, it is fair to say that Louis van Gaal's side will be desperate to get off to a positive start. This could well mean first half goals as the Dutch try and get an early lead to calm any nerves, and the price of 39/25 (2.56) on over 1.5 goals in the first half is well worth considering.
This bet has paid out in Netherlands' last two competitive matches, while Turkey have scored at least once in the first half of each of their last six games. The Dutch meanwhile have conceded in the first half of each of their last four matches, all of which makes this look like a solid selection at an extremely attractive price.
For a value bet try backing Turkey to score over 1.5 goals at 59/20 (3.95). This has proved the correct selection in five of Turkey's last six matches, and with Netherlands having conceded at least two goals in each of their last three games, this could prove to a profitable investment.
