The Bluebirds won their opening game of the season courtesy of late, late strike by captain Mark Hudson and were held by Brighton and Hove Albion in midweek but Mackay's men will be looking to record a victory at Ashton Gate and they are chalked up as 7/5 (2.40) favourites with PanBet to bag all three points.
The Robins, though, will have other ideas and Derek McInnes' team are rated as an 11/5 (3.20) chance with PanBet to pick up a second successive home win when the Bluebirds come to town. The same firm offer 47/20 (3.35) that both sides are forced to settle for a point apiece.
The Robins' home form was patchy at best last season with Derek McInnes' side winning just seven of their 23 home fixtures in the Championship, and the Scot will know that his side must improve on that record if they are to avoid a battle against relegation this term. Although they have made a positive start.
Cardiff, by contrast, lost just four of their 23 away games last season and should the Bluebirds produce a strong performance, they are more than capable of another fine result here.
A tight match is expected so the 17/20 (1.85) with PanBet for fewer than three goals should be snapped up by punters, especially given that Mackay’s side has scored just one goal in their two previous matches this term.
Cardiff's lack of goals will be a cause of some concern for Mackay and it may take the Bluebirds time to find their range here so the chunky 49/10 (5.90) quote from PanBet for the match to be drawn at half-time with Cardiff prevailing in the second half looks to be outstanding value.
When the season concludes, these two sides may well find themselves at opposite ends of the Championship table yet again and classy Cardiff can be trusted to take all three points here at PanBet’s generous 7/5 (2.40) quote.
