thumbnail Hello,

Ferguson's men should attract as many Chinese fans as the home side, and Al Hain-Cole expects those hoping to see a United victory will not go home disappointed

It may be only a friendly, but Manchester United's visit to Shanghai Shenhua is sure to be played in front of a full house of passionate fans at the city's 65,000-capacity stadium.

The Red Devils have a huge following in China, as demonstrated by the swathes of emotional fans who greeted their heroes off the plane upon arrival, and the presence of a couple of familiar faces in the Shanghai side will add an extra spice to this eagerly-anticipated encounter.

Didier Drogba and Nicolas Anelka have plenty of experience facing Manchester United in the blue shirts of Chelsea, but it will take a monumental effort on their part to inspire a victory for their new side, at odds of 11/2 (6.50) with Paddy Power.

United chief executive David Gill has promised that Sir Alex Ferguson will be fielding "the strongest possible team at our disposal", which should explain the slight price of 4/11 (1.36) on them coming out on top in this game.

Ferguson's blushes were saved by a late equaliser in the last friendly against Ajax Cape Town, and you can back another stalemate taking place on Wednesday at 7/2 (4.50).

Despite their modest results in South Africa, those two friendlies will take United from strength to strength in their return to full match fitness, and this should reap dividends in China.

With the likes of Paul Scholes, Javier Hernandez and new signing Shinji Kagawa on show, Ferguson's side should have no problem overcoming their Chinese opponents, and there is excellent value in backing the English giants to win with a -1 handicap, at odds of 11/10 (2.10).

Drogba's arrival could not have come at a better time for Sergio Batista's men, as their lack of firepower this season has left them way off the pace in 12th in the Chinese Super League.

As good as the Ivorian is, though, it is unrealistic to expect him to perform miracles, and Shanghai will still struggle to breach a typically resolute United defence.

Instead, it's worth backing the English side to cruise to victory with their scoresheet unblemished, at odds of 8/5 (2.60).
