Vancouver - San Jose Betting Preview: Back at least three goals to be scored when these two in-form sides meet
With both sides in excellent scoring form of late, Phil Kitromilides is backing a high-scoring contest, but also suggests the game could end as a stalemate
An attractive looking tie in Canada this evening sees a Vancouver Whitecaps side who are unbeaten in their last seven home MLS matches, take on the San Jose Earthquakes, the team currently riding hide at the top of the Western Conference. The Earthquakes are available at 7/4 (2.75) with Panbet to record a victory and that in itself looks like an extremely attractive price. Meantime the Canadians can be backed at 17/10 (2.70) and given the fact that they have already recorded a win against San Jose this season, an argument could be made for investing in a home win as well.
Yet instead of choosing between the two teams, a wiser choice would be to invest in over 2.5 goals being scored available at 10/11 (1.90). The Earthquakes have been involved in plenty of high-scoring encounters recently with their last five matches seeing 18 goals scored, and over 2.5 goals being netted in eight of their last nine games.
This bet has paid out in four of the last six matches the Whitecaps have played at home, with three goals being scored when the two teams met back in May. All the statistics point to a high-scoring game and the price of 10/11 (1.90) looks to hold a great deal of value.
If the teams are both in decent form, then a case could be made for backing the draw. Though they have been high-scoring games, three of the Whitecaps' last five home games have been draws (with two of those finishing 2-2). Backing the draw then at (9/4) 3.25 looks like being a wise backup value bet, and if the match finishes 2-2 again, it would boost winnings on the main selection of over 2.5 goals.
