UCD - St Patrick's Athletic Betting Preview: Saints can claim away win against basement boys

Liam Buckley's men go into this match as strong favourites for victory and Willie Duncan expects them to justify their tag with a victory over Martin Russell's struggling side
St Patrick’s Athletic will look to make amends for the disappointment of last week’s home defeat at the hands of Drogheda United when they travel to UCD Bowl to face Martin Russell’s struggling side on Sunday.Defeat to Drogheda saw St Patrick’s surrender second place to Mick Cooke’s side but Liam Buckley will feel confident of picking up three points on their travels this weekend.
Buckley’s men are certainly regarded as strong favourites for the clash, with William Hill chalking up Saints as 1/2 (1.50) shots to take all three points back to Richmond Park.
The Students have lost three of their last four matches but can be backed at a juicy 9/2 (5.50) with William Hill to turn the form-book upside down with victory here while the same firm make the draw a 13/5 (3.60) chance.Saints go into the match with an impressive away record having not lost in eight league matches this term, with just six goals conceded.
However, Buckley’s side have managed just 22 goals in 16 league matches this season, so they should not be expected to thump their bottom-of-the-table opponents as the odds suggest they might.
Instead, it would be more prudent to expect the trend to continue here and, thus, the 17/20 (1.85) quote from William Hill for fewer than three goals to be scored makes for considerable appeal.
It is also worth noting that St Patrick’s have kept a clean sheet in eight of their 16 matches this term and, on Sunday, will face a side that have managed just 14 goals this term, making the Evens (2.0) on offer from William Hill for Saints to keep a clean sheet at UCD bowl too tempting to resist.All signs appear to point to a narrow win for the visitors this weekend and value can be found in the correct score market, with William Hill offering 11/2 (6.50) for a 1-0 Saints win while the 6/1 (7.0) for a 2-0 Saints victory represents superb value.
