Malmo FF- AIK Solna Betting Preview: Goals look few and far between in this top of the table clash
With two of the tightest defences in the Swedish league meeting this evening, Phil Kitromilides is predicting a low-scoring game at a solid price
Things at the top of the Swedish league are seriously tight, with second and sixth in the table separated by just two points. Currently in second spot are Malmo FF and they welcome third placed AIK Solna to the southern tip of the country this evening for what should be a keenly contested affair. In a division where teams are constantly taking points off each other, Malmo are the form side, particularly at home where they remain unbeaten with five wins from their six matches played.
Sportingbet offer odds of 3/4 (1.75) on a home win, while AIK are available at 7/2 (4.50) to claim a victory and that could tempt some given that they have been strong on their travels with only one defeat and three wins from six.
Yet, as mentioned, the Swedish top flight can be notoriously difficult to predict - just this weekend runaway leaders Elfsborg were thrashed 5-1 at mid-table Atvidabergs. So rather than attempting to pick an outright winner, a more solid selection could be backing under 2.5 goals offered at 3/4 (1.75).
AIK have the meanest away defence in the division having conceded just four goals in their six games on the road and their 12 matches in total so far this season have seen an average of two goals in them, the lowest in the division.
Malmo, meanwhile, have the tightest home defence in the division, having let in just a solitary goal in the six matches they have played this season. Of those six home matches, four have seen less than three goals and this looks like a nailed on selection.
If the case for backing under 2.5 goals is pretty compelling then the same logic can be applied to backing under 1.5 goals for a small value bet available at 12/5 (3.40).
This bet has paid out in four of the last seven meetings between the two sides, and with two such sturdy defences meeting goals look sure to be at a premium.
