With the American attracting plenty of attention and reported interest from the Reds and Gunners, Phil Kitromilides takes a look at where he may end up this summer
The versatile American can play either as centre forward, wide on the wing or behind a main striker and his prowess in the air makes him as difficult an opponent for defenders as there is in the top flight of English football.
The favourites for the striker's signature are Everton, priced at 9/4 (3.25), with Toffees manager David Moyes a long-time admirer of Dempsey, having previously attempted to bring him to Goodison Park back in 2007.
Next in the betting come Arsenal priced at 5/1 (6.00) with the Gunners perhaps looking to reinforce their front line, which by anyone's admission was overly reliant on the exceptional form of Robin Van Persie this season. Having already added Lukas Podolski to their attack, Dempsey could prove the final piece of the puzzle for Arsene Wenger.
In keeping with the Merseyside and London theme, Liverpool and Tottenham come next in the betting priced at 6/1 (7.00), while Newcastle are available at 8/1 (9.00).
Liverpool chairman Tom Werner has expressed his interest in Dempsey, telling Goal.com that he expects plenty of transfer activity at Anfield this summer and any team would be lucky to have a player of his quality, so that could be a great value pick here.
Chelsea are the final English club represented, offered at 16/1 (17.00) with the smallest-priced European side Malaga at 20/1 (21.00). The newly rich Spaniards will be in the market for a striker this summer, and Dempsey's aerial ability could cause La Liga defences some real problems.
Also on offer at 20/1 (21.00) are Napoli, who already possess a trio of attacking brilliance in the shape of Edinson Cavani, Ezequiel Lavezzi and Marek Hamsik, but with at least one of those players likely to leave, the Italians could be looking to London for a replacement.
The final club in the book is Paris St Germain at 25/1 (26.00), with their coach Carlo Ancelotti fully aware of Dempsey's talents following his time at the other end of the Fulham Broadway at Stamford Bridge.
It seems that Dempsey will stay in the Premier League and with Liverpool and Arsenal both strongly linked with him, there could be some great opportunities for savvy punters to capitalise on a potential move this summer.
