thumbnail Hello,

It's been a turbulent few months for Liverpool striker but he remains favourite to be playing his football at Anfield next season as Adam Bate examines his options

It’s been an eventful year for Liverpool’s Luis Suarez. The Uruguayan striker has spent much of this season in the headlines for the wrong reasons as off-the-field dramas threatened to overshadow his performances on the field.

But with his eight-match ban now behind him and a first trophy under his belt with the Anfield club, perhaps the 25-year-old can now focus on his football once again. The question is – where will he be playing that football come September?

Of course, Liverpool are 2/7 (1.29) favourites with Paddy Power to retain Suarez’s services beyond the August transfer deadline.

Even if the powers-that-be at Anfield do decide Suarez is worth the aggravation, another season at Liverpool without Champions League football could see the forward agitating for a move.

Real Madrid are the next most likely destination for Suarez. The Spanish giants are thought to be on the lookout for a new striker in the summer and, while Robin van Persie would surely fit the bill, Suarez could be an alternative option. He is a 7/1 (8.0) shot with Paddy Power to be in Madrid by September.

The odds also reflect the simple fact that money talks in the current football climate. Suarez could elect to further aggravate Manchester United fans by joining cash-rich rivals City, or even cross the channel to play for Qatari-backed French club Paris Saint-Germain. Both outcomes are available at 8/1 (9.0) with Paddy Power.

Meanwhile, Russian Premier League side Anzhi continue to stun football with their astonishing financial muscle under billionaire backer Suleyman Kerimov.

With Samuel Eto’o already at the club and Guus Hiddink now at the helm, expect the Dagestan-based club to add some high-profile names in the summer. Anzhi represent a 10/1 (11.0) pick to acquire Suarez.

And one scenario which looks the most unlikely? The mischievous 80/1 (81.0) that says Suarez will pitch up at Old Trafford come the autumn.
