Tuesday's Bet of the Day: Both teams to score when Liverpool visit Wolves

With Kenny Dalglish's side on a high after consecutive cup wins, they face a potentially tricky trip to Molineux and Adam Bate is backing both teams to find the net.

Liverpool come into this game fresh from one of their best weeks in recent times. Having eliminated Manchester City to reach the Carling Cup final on Wednesday, the Anfield club promptly went and beat rivals Manchester United in the FA Cup on Saturday.

Given those achievements, the small matter of going to Molineux and seeing off struggling Wolves on Tuesday evening should prove easy enough. Liverpool are 7/10 (1.70) with Sportingbet to win this one.

The risk for Liverpool, of course, is that their recent exertions cause them to take their eye off the ball and we saw in the recent away defeat at Bolton that Kenny Dalglish’s side can be vulnerable on their travels.

Wolves have had over a week to prepare for this match and are fighting for their Premier League lives after going 10 matches without a victory. Wolves can be backed to bring that run to an end at 4/1 (5.0) with Sportingbet.

While Wolves might not be able to win games, they have certainly been in contention on a number of occasions. Mick McCarthy’s side have scored in each of their last eight Premier League matches – and won none of them.

In fact, they are without a clean sheet in the league since August. But with Steven Fletcher on a good run of form and Michael Kightly and Matt Jarvis flying on the wings, the home side are good for a goal. As a result, the Bet of the Day is for both teams to score at 17/20 (1.85) with Sportingbet.

Although both teams should get on the scoresheet, the likelihood is that Liverpool will do so first. Wolves are the only Premier League side not to score in the opening quarter of an hour and have conceded eight in that period.

The biggest threat to the home side will surely be Craig Bellamy after the Welshman was rested against Manchester United. Bellamy is well capable of undoing a Wolves back line short on pace, and tipping him to open the scoring at 9/2 (5.5) with Sportingbet is the value bet in this one.
