After Barcelona were drawn against Bayer Leverkusen in the Champions League knockout stages Lionel Messi has been installed as 8/11 favourite to finish to as the tournament’s top scorer. The Argentinian forward already leads the way with six goals and with Barcelona looking to claim their fifth European title that total will surely rise.
Messi’s main rival for the La Liga golden boot, Cristiano Ronaldo, has some catching up to do as indicated by his 11/2 price. He is three goals behind the leader but with Real Madrid handed a good draw against CSKA Moscow that price could be serious value. Bayern Munich’s talisman Mario Gomez has seen his price cut to 3/1, Bayern were one of the big winners from the last 16 draw and with Gomez’s impressive recent form, he could have plenty of opportunities to challenge Messi for the golden boot.
Edison Cavani, who will line up for Napoli against Chelsea in the next round has drifted to 25/1 from 20/1 pre draw. One of the biggest winners is Bafetimbi Gomis of Lyon, despite scoring four goals in the final group game he was a longshot 28/1 before the French side were paired with APOEL. The Frenchman is now 20/1 and with five goals under his belt already, that tally could be improved as the tournament progresses.

Robin van Persie has notched 15 league goals for the Gunners already this season and at 18/1, he could be worth an each way bet for more optimistic punters.
