Sunday Bet of the Day extra: Roma well priced to avoid defeat against Lazio in the capital city derby

The fierce local rivals meet in the final game of the Serie A weekend, with the Giallorossi attracting favour from betting expert Ed Malyon on the draw no bet option

Tonight sees the renewal of one of the most hotly-contested derbies on the planet as the eternal city stands still for Lazio vs Roma at the Stadio Olimpico.

Both sides bought well in the summer, Lazio assembling a proven international front line of Miroslav Klose and Djibril Cisse, amongst other additions, and only losing the talented but selfish Argentine Mauro Zarate.

It was all change on the other side of the city as a new era was ushered in at boardroom and dressing room level. With wealthy new owners, they’ve been able to buy in a wealth of top players to fit into Luis Enrique’s system, set to mimic his successes with Barcelona B.

The Giallorossi have endured a tough start as many new faces have struggled to gel and slot into the new system, even seeing them dumped out of Europe by Slovan Bratislava. Roma are showing signs of improvement now, winning their last two games against Parma and Atalanta, both outfits who have impressed so far this term.

Lazio’s form is more patchy (DLWDLW) but the sides are level on points and it is more evidence of how little there is to pick between these two. The ‘visitors’ have a better record in derby games, both long-term and more recently.

Short-term form is more telling, with Roma having won the last five meetings between the sides, two of those as the designated away team, and therefore the prices available of around 2.90 are very tempting.

In the atmosphere of a rivalry, though, it’s often better to err on the side of caution. Given their upward curve in form and impressive head-to-head record in this fixture, Roma Draw No Bet is our Sunday extra pick @ 2.0 with William Hill.
