Spanish Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy: Euro 2012 win was awesome

The politician was quick to praise his nation's record-breaking triumph, and also reserved special congratulation for the togetherness of the squad
Mariano Rajoy, the Prime Minister of Spain, has praised his nation's team after their European Championship win in Kiev on Sunday.
La Roja defeated Italy 4-0 to claim their third consecutive major trophy, and the leader of the Spanish People's Party was quick to commend the side after the final whistle.
"It was awesome," the 57-year-old politician told Telecino. "I was in Vienna, South Africa and now here [Kiev]. Let's enjoy it. Millions of Spaniards have enjoyed it and find this team comforting.
"We are all humans, we all have our problems, but the joys that come from this win are very nice. Today we are all very happy, but we have to thank the team and the coach, they have done very well.
"They are a great group, very friendly, and great fun to be around."
Spain begin their qualification campaign for the 2014 World Cup with a trip to Georgia on September 11.
