Russia punished for a third time after fan incidents in Greece game
The country's football association has been fined for "the setting off and throwing of fireworks by spectators, and displaying of illicit banners" in their final Group A game
Russia have received another penalty for actions undertaken by their fans during the team's final fixture at Euro 2012 against Greece. The football federation of the country had already been fined twice as a result of the trouble caused by their supporters at the European championship after their games against Czech Republic and Poland.
And Uefa has moved to punish them for a third time after Greece's 1-0 win was marred by a series of incidents in the stands.
"The Football Union of Russia (RFS) has been fined €35,000 by the Uefa Control and Disciplinary Body for the setting off and throwing of fireworks by spectators, and displaying of illicit banners, at the Euro 2012 Group A match against Greece in Warsaw on 16 June," an official statement read.
Uefa is yet to shed light on whether the latest incident will have an impact on the probation period of the suspended decision to impose a deduction of six points on the Football Union of Russia for the Euro 2016 qualifiers.
