The Poland international lamented his side's elimination from the competition and picked Germany to lift the trophy before talking of a potential transfer to Stuttgart
Sebastian Boenisch has spoken of his disappointment at Poland's early exit from Euro 2012 and tipped Germany to win the title.The 25-year-old started all three games as the co-hosts fell at the first hurdle without a win. The defender revealed who he believes will now win the tournament and also spoke of his experience with the White Eagles.
"I am going for Germany, all though in this crazy European Championship, anything is possible," Boenisch told Kreiszeitung.de.
"We were together for seven weeks and there was an unbelievable atmosphere in the team, even though we all come from different clubs.
"It was something I have never experienced. So it hurts when it is suddenly over. I'm still trying to process it all. It was really bitter.
"It is crazy what happened in this group [A]. I think we played a good tournament. But in the final game we made too little in the second half. We can only blame ourselves.
"Our fans are amazing. They would have deserved it, to become European Champions."
"We now want to make sure of qualifying for the 2014 World Cup, we promised all our fans."
At club level Boenisch's future remains uncertain having seen his contract at Werder Bremen run out, but the Poland international spoke of the possibility of a transfer to Stuttgart.
"As of yet nothing has been signed. I met with Fredi Bobic [Stuttgart director of sport] which were very good discussions.
"The medical check is missing from all interested parties. I am a free agent and in no hurry."
