Members of Laurent Blanc's side paid their respects to the iconic commentator on Sunday after he died at the age of 74

Uefa has confirmed that a minute's silence is scheduled to take place before France's game with Sweden on Tuesday after news of legendary French commentator Thierry Roland's passing.

During his near 60-year career, he worked through 13 World Cups and nine European Championships, and was described by many as the voice of football on television.

Reaction has poured in from football's elite around the world, and the French players held a silence in training on Sunday.

Uefa president Michel Platini was among those who put out a statement.
 
"He was the voice of football for millions of people and he was my friend," he said.

France national team coach Laurent Blanc spoke on behalf of the team.

"We present our condolences to the family of Thierry Roland, a true lover of the sport. He really touched us," he added.
